What could possibly go wrong

In terms of engineeerinf disasters, we have had asbestos, flammable cladding, concrete cancer, and now RAAC.

Now it seems we think it's good idea to mount a 90 ton spinning rotor on a single shaft on top of a 135 m plus pole made of steel sections manufactured in China.

These will be in locations exposed to very hostile weather conditions, quite apart from the aerodynamic, centrifugal, centripetal forces on the blades.

Wind turbines make excellent lightning conductors btw.

We'll add hundreds of gallons of diesel for back up generators, and fossil fuel derivatives for lubrication and cooling.

Then, a few hundred pounds of SF6. A notoriously 'leaky' and extremely potent greenhouse gas that makes CO2 look positively benign.

We'll build these of materials that shed microplastics, fibreglass dust, (we all know that's not good for us right), and get this...

Bisphenol A - The most toxic substance we know!

What could possibly go wrong?
