Sound Levels

Excellent description of how sound levels actually work and where IWTs sit in the scale:

Windmill 230 meters high = 106 dB(A):

"On the decibel scale, the weakest audible sound (perceived near total silence) is 0 dB."

10 times more powerful sound worth 10 dB.

A sound 100 times more powerful than nearly total silence is 20 dB.

Sound 1,000 times more powerful than near total silence is 30dB, 40dB and so on. "and" each increase of 3 dB represents a double the sound volume or the acoustic power. » https://pulsarinstruments.com
