MotVind UK Unveils Groundbreaking Mapping Project: Bringing Transparency to Wind Farm Developments

Corwen - 22/03/2024 MotVind UK, a non profit organisation, is proud to announce the launch of its innovative Google Earth Pro mapping project. This pioneering initiative aims to provide communities with a comprehensive and accurate visualisation of planned wind farm developments in Wales by incorporating true-scale 3D models of proposed industrial wind turbines onto the landscape.

Understanding the concerns and importance of transparency in the development of wind energy projects, MotVind UK has taken a significant step forward by utilising Google Earth Pro to create detailed representations. By incorporating the developer's information, including turbine location, hub height, and rotor diameter, the mapping project offers an unparalleled view of the scale and proximity of these developments to landmarks and communities.

Unlike the limited viewpoint graphics typically submitted by developers, MotVind UK's aerial views from the four compass points offer a holistic perspective of the proposed wind farms. This innovative approach goes beyond the traditional two-dimensional representations, allowing the public to truly visualise the overall impact of the developments.

"MotVind UK is committed to transparency and informed community engagement in the renewable energy sector. Our Google Earth Pro mapping project empowers communities by providing them with an accurate and comprehensive understanding of planned wind farm developments," said Tim Smith, director at MotVind UK.

The mapping project showcases Bute Energy's Nant Mithil project as a prime example. With 36 towering turbines measuring 220 meters in height, this development seeks to make its mark on the Radnor Forest in mid Wales. MotVind UK's true-scale 3D models on Google Earth Pro offer communities and stakeholders an unparalleled opportunity to assess the visual impact and proximity of the proposed wind farm to their surroundings.

MotVind UK believes that transparency and public scrutiny are essential components in the development of renewable energy projects. By providing easily accessible and accurate visual representations, the company aims to foster informed discussions and decision-making processes within the communities affected by such developments.
