Back Up?

Been another night of business as usual at the mighty Clocaenog Forest Wind Farm in North Wales.

How much does 12 hours of back-up energy cost?

Well, a one hour ‘suitable’ 28 MWh BESS would be about £23 million to £36 million according to AI.

So at an average of let’s say £30 million, 12 hours would cost £360 million, or 3 TIMES THE COST OF THE WIND FARM.

This is what the consumer is expected to bear while the operators rake in the profits and constraint payments.
